Chapter 5 presents empirical research from the author’s research, particularly illustrating the business support experiences of women entrepreneurs and the potential for using coaching as a way of supporting and developing them through the process of entrepreneurial start-up and operation. Coaching has the potential to provide an alternative form of business support, with respondents emphasizing the potential of personalized support, sharing experiences and developing collaborative relationships. The specific development areas, which women in this study wanted to cover in their coaching relationship, were fluid, ranging from practical advice on start-up issues, to personal development and home and work life balance. This variety in support needs illustrates the heterogeneous nature of women entrepreneurs and the importance of individual and tailored support.
