The tuna stocks in the Pacific and Indian Oceans support the world’s largest fisheries and are the base for economic development and food security to many millions of peoples. This chapter notes the challenges in managing highly migratory species and focuses on key tuna organizations – the Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna (CCSBT); the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC) and the Western Central Pacific Tuna Commission (WCPFC).
