Chapter 6 More than just fish: the Southern Ocean
Restricted access

The Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) provides the management framework for marine living resources in the Southern Ocean. It is unique in that it was established using a precautionary, science-focused, ecosystem-based approach to management. It has been described as a conservation organisation with attributes of an RFO that addresses associated and dependent species, not just target fish stocks. CCAMLR faces challenges through increasing utilization of the Southern Ocean and impacts of climate change.
