This chapter looks at historic and contemporary examples of sweet spot research-showing its relevance from the early days of organization studies to its use by current day researchers whom we interviewed for this book. It looks at how scholars, then and now, can study practical and theoretical problems, use rigorous and relevant research methods, and build and tap into knowledge networks to frame and disseminate their research. Particular attention is given to how today's scholars grapple successfully with the challenges of producing research results that are both scientifically sound and practically useful.
