Chapter 1 Introduction to the ecology of trust

The first chapter introduces the book and the notion that schools are living systems (ecological metaphor). The authors assert that because wellbeing is vital to schools, there must be the presence of trust and leaders who act as moral agents. The authors explain how their research and the literature are used through the book to illustrate and provide insights on trust. They foreshadow the organization of the book with particular emphasis the lifecycle of trust in educational leadership.
