Restricted access

Chapter Eleven describes the fourth stage of a lifecycle - breaking of trust. The authors explore the subtle and not so subtle ways that trust is breached and how betrayal takes place. The breakdown of trust can be a surprise but in retrospect it is often has an incremental set of causes. Intentional and unintentional breakdowns are described by both scholars and practitioners. The role of wide-awake moral agents is featured as general decay, broken relationships, disappointments and event-based breakdowns is examined and the results are displayed.
