Despite the seemingly simple message conveyed in Elena Oikkonen’s chapter, of slow, lazy and stupid, there is considerably more depth to the messaging here. Oikkonen is challenging the reader to pause longer and reflect deeper in order to confirm aspects of the learning process that all too often are taken for granted. The divided focus of pre-service teachers and undergraduate students seems to serve as the impetus to create such moments of deliberation and sense making in Oikkonen’s thinking. This is consistent with Oikkonen’s desire to create capable entrepreneurs rather than merely settling to be evaluated on the number of new companies that have been created by her students. Therefore, it is the personal qualities, such as patience and tolerance, that are actively supported, rather then the more obvious creativity and evaluation skills common to EE.
