Chapter 22 Unsettled questions of disintegration, discontent and discretion
Restricted access

This concluding chapter collects some learnings from the various chapters and thematic parts of the edited volume. It concludes that Cohesion Policy will bear much of the weight and indeed the responsibility for the future health of the EU. Many territorial, economic and social challenges remain to be addressed along with numerous spatial governance issues. The question is how to strategically develop EU Cohesion Policy in the wake of the territorial, economic and social challenges, which is contextualised around disintegration, discontent and (the lack of) discretion in this chapter.
