The following chapter explores the involvement of judgment and evaluation in the creative process. Specifically, we focus on the idea evaluation process to explain how people judge creative ideas. Literature that explains the importance of idea evaluation as a leadership skill is discussed. To explain the underlying mechanisms of the process, this chapter details research on the idea evaluation process. Additionally, we explore what is known about the influences of individual differences on leader idea evaluation. Contextual and interpersonal influences on the evaluation process are also discussed. Key points and findings of the literature on idea evaluation are synthesized to form recommendations designed to best facilitate the idea evaluation process for leaders in the modern work environment.
