Chapter 8 Conclusion
Open access

The chapter summarizes the main survey tasks and their relative costs in terms of time and financing. The goal of all questionnaire surveys, whether of organizations or individuals, is to obtain high quality data at reasonable cost that are suitable for answering a set of questions. This requires a good response rate, an appropriate sample, and careful design of the questionnaire to ensure that the questions are suitable for the survey method and planned statistical analysis. The chapter concludes with a discussion of future trends towards online and video survey methods and cautions that these methods should only be adopted if there is sufficient research to establish their ability to obtain high-quality data.
