Responsible leadership is an emerging topic in the leadership literature. It deals with a broad spectrum of relationships, as it expands the focus of classic leadership theories – which are confined to leader–followers interactions – to the interfaces between leaders, on one hand, and various internal and external stakeholders, on the other hand. Consequently, responsible leadership explores concepts such as responsibility, ethics, sustainability, and stakeholders’ interests, in order to understand the mutual influences amongst all those groups that are to some degree relevant to the organisation. The study of responsible leadership sheds light on how institutions, companies, leaders, employees and individuals develop a more holistic, inclusive and responsible management approach in organisational settings. The current chapter advances some reflexions on responsible leadership and its link to responsible management. The main argument is that responsible leadership is of outmost relevance to understanding the individual component of the responsible management concept.
